The Hudson Shakespeare Company will bring ‘As You Like It,’ to the Kenilworth Public Library, on Tuesday, June 4th, at 7 p.m., for a one-night-only performance to kick off the 2019 Bard On the Boulevard series.

The Bard On the Boulevard series will continue with two more performances. “Coriolanus” will be presented on Monday, July 22, and “Doctor Faustus” will be presented on Tuesday, October 8.

The old regime has been forcefully banished. In its place is a court run by a tyrant. The court has become a place of oppression and harshness. After being banished and threatened with death, our heroine Rosalind flees persecution of her uncle’s court, accompanied by her cousin Celia to find safety and, eventually, love, in the Forest of Arden. But things are not always what they seem. In the search for something more, everyone in the forest is seeking an ideal: an ideal mate, and an ideal world. When Rosalind encounters, Orlando who professes his love for an idealized version of Rosalind, it is up to her to bring Orlando’s expectation of ‘Rosalind’ back down to reality. But in a world where everyone has had to deal with so much grief and pain, overcoming their idealized versions of life, love, and the pursuit of happiness maybe harder than it seems.
