Bard on the Boulevard: Taming of the Shrew @ Kenilworth Public Library | Kenilworth | New Jersey | United States

Kenilworth’s beloved annual Shakespeare series Bard on the Boulevard returns to the library on Thursday, June 15, 2017 with a one-night-only performance of The Taming of the Shrew. The Hudson Shakespeare Company will join us this summer for two performances, each held at the Kenilworth Public Library at 548 Boulevard, Kenilworth, NJ 07033. As in previous years, this program has been made possible with the support of the Union County Office of Cultural & Heritage Affairs.

Described on the Company’s website as “a culture shock of epic proportions,” The Taming of the Shrew tells the story of the lovelorn Petruchio (Michael Gardiner) and Katharina (London Griffith), the woman who wants nothing to do with him. Featuring a matriarchal society, devious dealings, and design inspired by the films of Italian auteur Federico Fellini, Hudson Shakespeare Company’s inspired performance is sure to be a highlight of the season. Company artistic director Jon Ciccarelli will direct.

The Hudson Shakespeare Company has been involved in productions both classic and modern since 1992. Recent Bard on the Boulevard plays have included a series of Shakespeare’s Histories, as well as Macbeth, Two Gentlemen of Verona, and Pericles. Their skilled players and directors combine the comic and tragic to produce unforgettable performances.
